Dominic Raab conceded he wouldn’t have left the UK had he recognized what would unfold in Afghanistan over the weekend, following reviews he remained on vacation till late on Sunday.
The International Secretary was seen enjoyable on a seaside on the Greek island of Crete on Sunday, the identical day members of the militant group Taliban entered Kabul.
Talking on Sky Information on Tuesday morning, Mr Raab stated that “no-one” noticed the scenario in Afghanistan coming.
And when requested how sorry he was that he didn’t return from his vacation earlier, the International Secretary instructed Sky Information that he returned “as quickly because the scenario deteriorated and demanded it”.
He stated: “Everybody was caught off-guard by the tempo, scale of the Taliban takeover.”
Mr Raab stated all international secretaries, “once we are overseas, whether or not it is journey for work or for vacation, we’re there in a position to answer occasions.
