KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine on Wednesday marked the eightieth anniversary of the Babi Yar bloodbath, one of the crucial notorious mass slaughters of World Conflict II.
Babi Yar, a ravine within the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, is the place almost 34,000 Jews had been killed inside 48 hours in 1941 when the town was underneath Nazi occupation. The killing was carried out by SS troops together with native collaborators.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy laid flowers on the monument the the victims of the bloodbath on Wednesday.
